Permitting actions to date

Since Day 1, California has worked to clear barriers and cut red tape. Governor Newsom has taken the following actions to support survivors and fast-track rebuilding:

Financial Relief and Support

  • Extended the LA County individual tax filing deadline to October 15
  • Postponed the business sales and use tax filing deadline to April 30
  • Waived penalties and interest on late property tax payments for a one year grace period until April 2026
  • Worked with state and federally-chartered banks so affected homeowners can receive mortgage relief
  • Provided $105 million in mortgage relief for affected homeowners

Housing Permitting Process Streamlining

Housing Protection and Anti-Exploitation Measures
